Hi friend, Patrick here.
I haven't published in over a month. Sorry for the silence.
I'll be honest, I've been in a creative funk and afraid to share or ask for help. I wrote every week without fail for over two years and then... nothing. My thoughts were scrambled. I started doubting myself. I would look at the blank page and it just felt like too much.
As you may know, I joined a friend to try to start a company a few months ago. I thought I could continue my writing without a hitch. I was wrong. Trying to start a business from scratch as a first-time founder is all-encompassing.
I'll share more detail another day, but the gist is this: The business hasn't gone as planned, we've been scrambling, and I've had to confront some big questions about what I really want from this next chapter of my life.
It's not all bad. I've learned a lot in a very short, intense timeframe. I've made new friends. Heck, I even went on a spontaneous business quest across the country! But it hasn't been very conducive to writing.
So, all that said, expect to see a lot more of me again soon. I have a lot to unpack and share with the community. I want to prioritize writing.
I miss it.
In the meantime, I have one small favor to ask that would go a long way in helping me shake off my writer's block: What can I write about that would help you? What questions do you have for me? Just reply to this email to let me know!
I think answering your requests directly will help me get the gears turning again.
Until next time,
Patrick
PS. A big thank you to Chase Adams and Dave Thompson for checking in on me and prompting me to write this note. I appreciate you! 🙏
Tell us the story of your startup journey? Make a series out of it.
I'd be curious to see your day-to-day work as a design founder and your reflections on the tasks, tradeoffs etc. The concept of weeknotes could be very interesting to read, even if specific details are not included. Sharing ideas, reflections on designing a product, getting the business off the ground, and the lessons learned along the way would be awesome.
